The arrival of spring brings with it the perfect weather for planting. Regardless of where you live – in a house or an apartment – your options aren’t limited to just flowers. Even the most space challenged can grow a salad garden. All you need is a large container, or several smaller containers, potting soil for the containers and the plants.
Black Magic Chocolate Cake is all that and more. Moist, rich and covered in a layer of dark chocolate, this has become my go-to cake despite the preparation time. Plus, my friends like this one the best out of all the cakes I make.
A couple of years ago, we took a coastal road trip down Highway 1 and ended up at Monterey Bay, California, where I re-discovered Shepherd Pie at a local British pub. I had it once when I was young, but Shepherd Pie was not something I had on a regular basis growing up and, for the most part, I forgot it even existed until I saw it on that menu. Now Shepherd Pie makes a regular appearance in our dinner rotation, specifically when it’s my turn to cook.
I have a confession to make. I’m not a great cook, and I eat more for utility. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate excellent food (because I do), but I’m usually not the one who makes it. Excellent food takes time, and time is something I quite often don’t have as a student.
